How do the “flying” magic tricks work?

very often magicians do the tricks where they can levitate and fly.
how do they do that?

    That depends on the levitation effect.

    If the performer is on the street, and only ‘levitating’ a few inches off of the ground, such as David Blaine, then they are more than likely using the “Balducci Levitation” (pronounced Baal Doochie)
    In which the performer requires NO setup, and no wires.

    If they are “flying” several feet in the air, or such, it is a much more complicated set up.
